THE 2024 CONTEST RULES

UPDATED: 8/8/24

REGISTRATION AND SELECTIONS

Emerald Downs offer visitors to emeralddowns.com AND www.emerald123.com the chance to participate in EMERALD DOWNS’S CONTEST during the current Thoroughbred meet.

THE CONTEST begins Saturday, 4th May, 2024 and concludes when the last Emerald Downs live race is official on Sunday, September 15th, 2024.

Players may register at any time during THE CONTEST. Note: Due to the number of races run each contest day. PP's are not available.

By registering and making selections, the participant agrees to abide by the rules set forth herein THE CONTEST RULES.

All Emerald Downs employees, vendors, and contractors of Emerald Downs and their immediate families are not eligible to play THE CONTEST.

THE CONTEST is a FREE on-line contest. Participants are required to sign up via an email address, logon to THE CONTEST, and select one entry only from each of six races selected by the Contest Commissioner. Players must make all selections personally. Participants are credited with a mythical $2.00 win (1st), place (2nd), and show (3rd) or “across the board” wager on each of their selections. The total mutuel payouts according to the official race results will be accrued to the participant’s mythical bankroll.

EXAMPLE: if your selection in CONTEST RACE #1 finishes 2nd, paying $5.60 to place and $3.10 to show, your selection in CONTEST RACE #2 does not finish first, second, or third (off the board), but your selection in CONTEST RACE #3 finishes 3rd, paying $3.20 to show, your mythical bankroll will be credited or increased by $11.90 ($5.60   $3.10   $3.20).

Scratch rule: If your selection is scratched at any time whether the contest is still open or in play, you will receive the post time favorite. Scratches do not occur until the post time favorite is known at the end of the relevant race.

Coupled horse rule: When you select a coupled horse, you automatically get both horses. If one of the coupled horses is scratched, you remain on the other coupled horse and not the post time favorite. If both coupled horses are scratched, then you will receive the post time favorite.

Participants have to make a selection in all six races. In the event of a late scratch of a participant’s selection, their selection is automatically transferred to the post-time (off time) favorite. If the post-time favorite is a coupled “entry,” the player receives the entire entry and will be credited with the mutuel payout accordingly. THE CONTEST scoring is based on pari-mutuel information as supplied by Equibase.

All participant’s race selections must be made no less than thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of the first contest race (ie: if post time is 16:02 pm then 15:32 pm is cut-off) on the day’s program. Remember, you can change your selections at any time until 30 minutes prior to post time of the first nominated race.

SCORING

Awards are based on highest accumulated pari-mutuel payout total (bankroll). The participant with the highest accumulated pari-mutuel payout total (bankroll) at the end of THE CONTEST will be declared the GRAND PRIZE winner. Awards for second and third highest bankrolls will be awarded as well as BONUS PRIZES to the participant selecting the most WINNERS (first-place finishers) and the player with the HIGHEST WEEKLY BANKROLL (Monday through Sunday to include holiday racing) during the CONTEST. Players need not be "active" to win. Players who register earlier in the CONTEST have the opportunity to accumulate higher bankrolls.

In the event of a tie for the highest accumulated pari-mutuel total (bankroll), the player selecting the most first place finishers will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie in the “MOST WINNERS” category, the player with the highest accumulated pari-mutuel total will be declared the winner. In the unlikely event of a tie in the “MOST WINNERS” category, also achieving a tie in the highest accumulated pari-mutuel total, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner.

In the event of a tie in the “HIGHEST WEEKLY BANKROLL” category, the player with the most winners that week will be declared the winner. In the unlikely event of a tie for most winners in the “HIGHEST WEEKLY BANKROLL” category, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner.

Players may access a daily leader board listing each participant’s current standings and race selections after close of entries. Winners will be notified by email.
